Roof Mounted Guardrail

Every roof with people on it needs protection at the edge, and the default answer is a ballasted rail: a line of counterweights on the membrane, heavy to place, easy to nudge out of position, and permanently in the way at re-roof. Roof Mounted Guardrail fixes to U-Anchor® bases instead. The rail stays exactly where it was specified, nothing sits on the roof surface, and each Compression-Free™ base is considered a component of the roof and included in the roof warranty.

The assembly from every angle

A run of roof-mounted guardrail on 3000 Series U-Anchors®, fixed to the deck and carrying no counterweights.

How it works

It starts with a U-Anchor®, a component of the roof, sealed watertight at the point of attachment. Everything else connects your equipment to that one point.

The anchor

The part that carries the load. A galvanized steel plate with rolled edges that protect the membrane sits under a cover membrane matched to the roofing brand, type, and color, leaving a stainless stud at the surface for everything else to bolt to. Which one you use is decided by the membrane on the building, not by the equipment.

The fittings

Post kit, Handrail, Knee rail and spacer hanger, Support brace, Toe-board — fitted to the equipment itself rather than to the roof.

Why it works

WATERTIGHT
Every post sets on a U-Anchor® base with a Compression-Free™ seal. The base is a component of the roof, so the roof warranty stays intact. Nothing bolted through the deck, and no ballast pressing into the membrane along the whole run.
ENGINEERED
Engineered as permanent fall protection and installed to meet OSHA guardrail requirements. Because it's fixed rather than ballasted, the rail holds its specified position. There are no counterweights to place, level, or reset after work on the roof.
PROVEN
Installed on commercial roofs nationwide, across every common membrane. The same attachment method carrying pipe and equipment on those roofs carries the rail.
