Equipment Screen

Screens go up for a reason that has nothing to do with the roof: a code official, a tenant, a sightline from the street. Then they sit in open wind for twenty years, usually on ballast blocks or bolted through the deck. Equipment Screen attachment sets the screen posts on U-Anchor® bases, which are a component of the roof rather than something sitting on top of it. It works with Anchor screens or a third-party system already specified.

Drag to turn it

An equipment screen on its watertight attachments, on 3000 Series U-Anchors.

How it works

It starts with a U-Anchor®, a component of the roof, sealed watertight at the point of attachment. Everything else connects your equipment to that one point.

The anchor

The part that carries the load. A galvanized steel plate with rolled edges that protect the membrane sits under a cover membrane matched to the roofing brand, type, and color, leaving a stainless stud at the surface for everything else to bolt to. Which one you use is decided by the membrane on the building, not by the equipment.

The hardware

What connects your equipment to that stud. Supplied with the solution, and sold on its own where a job needs more of them.

The fittings

U-Screen support frame, Horizontal support, Horizontal splice bracket, Screen material or louver system (by others) — fitted to the equipment itself rather than to the roof.

Why it works

WATERTIGHT
Every post sets on a U-Anchor® base with a Compression-Free™ seal, so the roof assembly and its warranty stay intact. No ballast blocks holding a wind-loaded screen in place, and nothing bolted through the deck.
ENGINEERED
The attachment carries the wind load a screen sees at the roof edge and transfers it into the base, not the membrane. It works with Anchor screens or a third-party system, so the screen can already be specified and the attachment still fits.
PROVEN
Installed on commercial roofs nationwide, across every common membrane. The same attachment method carrying pipe and equipment on those roofs carries the screen.
