Space Center Houston is the official visitor center for NASA Johnson Space Center, drawing more than a million visitors a year. Behind the exhibits is a working facility that runs every day, and a rooftop carrying HVAC for public galleries, conduit runs, security infrastructure, and a full lightning protection system, all on 1,550 squares of mechanically fastened Versico TPO.
The facility needed one securement approach that could handle every one of those equipment types without causing leaks, stand up to the high wind exposure common to the Houston region, and go in without disrupting operations at a destination that stays open to the public.

THE CHALLENGE
Every additional attachment method on a roof is another detail to install correctly, another product to stock, and another place a leak can start. The question wasn't whether each piece of equipment could be secured. It was whether all of it could be secured the same way. HVAC, conduit, security, and lightning protection all needing attachment Watertight integrity on a mechanically fastened TPO membrane High wind exposure typical of the Houston region A large public facility that had to stay open during the work Long-term reliability at a high-profile destination
THE SOLUTION
Anchor Products supplied a U2400-TPO attachment system built for mechanically fastened TPO roofs. Installation ran in October 2018, with 105 U-Anchor® attachments placed across the facility. Compatible with Versico TPO membranes, matched to the roof already in place One attachment supporting HVAC, conduit, security infrastructure, and lightning protection Compression-Free™ watertight seal at every attachment point A modular base detail adapted to each securement need across the roof One method. One detail. One roof assembly kept intact.

THE RESULT
The project was completed with a durable attachment solution supporting critical equipment across a large, high-traffic facility. It delivered long-term performance while maintaining safety, roof integrity, and operational continuity throughout the install. For consultants and roofing contractors, the takeaway is repeatability: a complex rooftop with five different securement problems resolved through a single system, where an attachment that may cause leaks would cost both the equipment and the roof.
