How To Install Your U-Anchor

On this page you’ll find instructions for installation of the U-Anchor. There are a few different methods for each type with and without the membrane attachment ring. Please scroll down to read more about each method.

U-Anchor 2400 Single Ply

PVC, TPO, or KEE

2400 Single Ply Installation Instructions


1. Prepare the roof surface by removing all loose debris and clean the area in accordance with the roofing manufacturer recommendations.
2. Place the U-Anchor 2400 over the roof membrane and align as per engineering requirements using the notched alignment marks on each side of the membrane cover.  Fasten using 2-4 fasteners as specified.
3. Hot air weld the entire perimeter edge of the U-Anchor membrane cover to the roof surface below. (Weld should be consistent with the roofing manufacturer recommendations or a minimum 1.5 inches whichever is greater)
4. Ensure a proper seal has been achieved by probing the perimeter edge using an approved seam probe.

EPDM

2400 EPDM Installation Instructions

1. Prepare the roof surface by removing all loose debris and clean the area in accordance with the roofing manufacturer recommendations.
2. Clean the EPDM roof surface using an approved membrane cleaner for the membrane type and brand.
3. Apply an approved Seam Splice Adhesive Primer to the roof membrane where the Double Sided Die Cut Adhesive will be placed and allow to dry before continuing.
4. Peel back half of the release liner exposing the adhesive.
5. Carefully align the Double Side Die Cut Adhesive and place into the desired position. Do not stretch or pull the adhesive. Center the U-Anchor 2400 over the Double Sided Die Cut Adhesive and fasten using 2-4 fasteners as specified.
6. Apply an approved Seam Splice Adhesive Primer to the exposed underside of the U-Anchor 2400 Single Ply cover and allow to dry before continuing.
7. Remove the top release liner and press the membrane cover into the adhesive being careful to avoid wrinkles.
8. Using a weighted membrane roller firmly roll the entire surface of the U-Anchor membrane cover to ensure a proper bond is achieved.
9. Firmly roll the perimeter edge to embed the perimeter edge of the membrane. If you are unable to embed the edge of the membrane into the adhesive cut edge sealant may be needed to prevent the membrane reinforcement from wicking moisture.

U-Anchor 2600 Asphalt

Adhered 1 Layer

2600 SBS Adhered Installation Instructions


1. Prepare the roof surface by removing all loose debris and clean the area in accordance with the SBS manufacturer’s recommendations.
2. Place the plate over the roof membrane and align as per engineering requirements using the alignment marks on the edge of the plate. Fasten using 2-4 fasteners as specified.
3. Apply an approved asphalt primer to the top surface of the U-Anchor Plate and the entire roof area where the U-Anchor Asphalt cover will be adhered. Allow primer to dry prior to continuing.
4. Apply SBS manufacturer’s approved trowel grade cold process adhesive or hot asphalt over the primed area to properly adhere the 16” X 16” U-Anchor cover.
5. While the asphalt is still hot, broadcast matching granules over the exposed asphalt to enhance the finished appearance of the U-Anchor.

Adhered 2 Layers

2600 2-Ply SBS Adhered Installation Instructions


1. Prepare the roof surface by removing all loose debris and clean the area in accordance with the SBS manufacture’s recommendations.
2. Place the plate over the roof membrane and align as per engineering requirements using the alignment marks on the edge of the plate. Fasten using 2-4 fasteners as specified.
3. Apply an approved asphalt primer to the top surface of the U-Anchor Plate and the entire roof area where the U-Anchor Asphalt cover will be adhered. Allow primer to dry prior to continuing.
4. Apply SBS manufacturer’s approved trowel grade cold process adhesive or hot asphalt over the primed area to properly adhere the first 12” X 12” U-Anchor cover. Place the cover over the U-Anchor bolt and apply pressure over the entire surface of the cover creating a proper bond.
5. Apply another layer of the SBS manufacturer’s approved trowel grade cold process adhesive or hot asphalt over the first cover. The adhesive or hot asphalt should extend beyond the area of the second 18” X 18” U-Anchor Cover. Place the second 18” X 18” cover over the U-Anchor bolt and apply pressure over the entire surface of the cover creating a proper bond.
6. While the asphalt is still hot, broadcast matching granules over the exposed asphalt to enhance the finished appearance of the U-Anchor.

Torch Applied 1 Layer

2600 APP Torch Installation Instructions


1. Prepare the roof surface by removing all loose debris and clean the area in accordance with the APP or SBS (Torch Grade) roofing manufacturer’s recommendations.
2. Place the plate over the roof membrane and align as per engineering requirements using the alignment marks on the edge of the plate. Fasten using 2-4 fasteners as specified.
3. Apply an approved asphalt primer to the top surface of the U-Anchor Plate and the entire roof area where the U-Anchor Asphalt cover will be adhered. Allow primer to dry prior to continuing.
4. U-Anchor Asphalt Torch Cover is to be torch applied to the primed area over the U-Anchor plate and bolt. Apply 75% of the heat to the U-Anchor Cover and 25% to the area receiving the cover.
5. If necessary, use a roofing trowel to gently lift the perimeter edge of the cover and apply heat as necessary to ensure proper adhesion. The finished perimeter edge should have a minimum 3/8” bleed out for APP materials and a minimum of ¼” bleed out for SBS (Torch Grade) materials.
6. While the bitumen is still hot, broadcast matching granules over the exposed bleed out to enhance the finished appearance of the U-Anchor.

Torch Applied 2 Layers

2600 2-Ply SBS Torch Installation Instructions


1. Prepare the roof surface by removing all loose debris and clean the area in accordance with the APP or SBS (Torch Grade) roofing manufacturer’s recommendations.
2. Place the plate over the roof membrane and alien as per engineering requirements using the alignment marks on the edge of the plate. Fasten using 2-4 fasteners as specified.
3. Apply an approved asphalt primer to the top surface of the U-Anchor Plate and the entire roof area where the U-Anchor Asphalt cover will be adhered. Allow primer to dry prior to continuing.
4. Asphalt Torch Cover (12” x 12” base) is to be torch applied to the primed area over the U-Anchor plate and bolt. Apply 75% of the heat to the U-Anchor Cover and 25% to the area receiving the cover.
5. Torch apply the 18” X 18” cover over the 12” x 12” base and U-Anchor plate and bolt. Apply 75% of the heat to the U-Anchor Cover and 25% to the substrate.
6. If necessary, use a roofing trowel to gently lift the perimeter edge of the cover and apply heat as necessary to ensure proper adhesion. The finished perimeter edge should have a minimum 3/8” bleed out for APP materials and a minimum of ¼” bleed out for SBS (Torch Grade) materials.
7. While the bitumen is still hot, broadcast matching granules over the exposed bleed out to enhance the finished appearance of the U-Anchor.

U-Anchor 2600 Coatings

TPO, PVC, and KEE

2600 Coatings Installation Instructions


1. Prepare the roof surface by removing all loose debris and clean the area in accordance with the roofing manufacturer’s recommendations.
2. Place the plate over the roof membrane and alien as per engineering requirements using the alignment marks on the edge of the plate. Fasten using 2-4 fasteners as specified.
3. Peel back half of the release liner exposing the adhesive.
4. Carefully align the Die Cut Reinforcement Fabric over the bolt and press down around the center working outward to avoid wrinkles.
5. Remove the second half of the release liner and repeat the previous step.
6. Using a weighted roller firmly roll over the entire surface of the Die Cut Reinforcement Fabric insuring a proper bond is achieved.
7. Using a coating compatible with the roof type apply an even layer sufficient to completely cover the fabric. The coating should surround the center bolt and extend at least 2-3” beyond the fabric circle on all sides.
8. Place the Membrane Separator over the coating and allow to cure.
9. Once the coating has cured resume installing any additional hardware as needed.

U-Anchor 2000 Single Ply

PVC, TPO or KEE

2000 Single Ply Installation Instructions


1. Prepare the roof surface by removing all loose debris and clean the area in accordance with the roofing manufacture recommendations
2. Place the U-Anchor 2000 over the roof membrane and alien as per engineering requirements using the notched alignment marks on each side of the cover.
3. Hot air weld the entire perimeter edge of the U-Anchor membrane cover to the roof surface below. (Weld should be consistent with the roofing manufactures recommendations or a minimum 1.5 inches whichever is greater)

With Membrane Attachment Ring

2000 Single Ply with Membrane Ring Installation Instructions


1. Prepare the roof surface by removing all loose debris and clean the area in accordance with the roofing manufacture recommendations
2. Align the Membrane Attachment Ring as per engineering requirements and fasten using 3 to 7 fasteners as specified.
3. Place and center the U-Anchor 2000 over the Membrane Attachment Ring and using the notched alignment marks on each side of the cover.
4. Hot air weld the U-Anchor Target around the inside diameter of the Membrane Attachment Ring (Weld should be consistent with the roofing manufactures recommendations or a minimum 1.5 inches whichever is greater)
5. Hot air weld the entire perimeter edge of the U-Anchor membrane cover to the roof surface below. (Weld should be consistent with the roofing manufactures recommendations or a minimum 1.5 inches whichever is greater)

EPDM

2000 EPDM Installation Instructions


1. Prepare the roof surface by removing all loose debris and clean the area in accordance with the roofing manufacture recommendations
2. Apply an approved Seam Slice Adhesive Primer to the roof membrane where the Double Sided Die Cut Adhesive will be placed and allow to dry before continuing.
3. Peel back half of the release liner exposing the adhesive.
4. Carefully align the Double Side Die Cut Adhesive and place into the desired position. Do not stretch or pull the adhesive.
5. Apply an approved Seam Slice Adhesive Primer to the underside of the U-Anchor 2400 Single Ply cover and allow to dry before continuing.
6. Remove the top release liner and place into position.
7. Center and place the U-Anchor 2000 over the Double Sided Die Cut Adhesive avoiding wrinkles.
8. Using a weighted membrane roller firmly roll the entire surface of the U-Anchor membrane cover to ensure a proper bond is achieved.
9. Firmly roll the perimeter edge to embed the perimeter edge of the membrane in the adhesive. If you are unable to embed the edge of the membrane into the adhesive cut edge sealant may be needed to prevent the membrane reinforcement from wicking moisture.

With Membrane Attachment Ring

2000 EPDM with Ring Installation Instructions


1. Prepare the roof surface by removing all loose debris and clean the area in accordance with the roofing manufacture recommendations
2. Apply an approved Seam Slice Adhesive Primer to the roof membrane where the Double Sided Die Cut Adhesive will be placed and allow to dry before continuing.
3. Peel back half of the release liner exposing the adhesive.
4. Carefully align the Double Side Die Cut Adhesive and place into the desired position.
5. Using a weighted roller firmly roll over the entire surface of the Die Cut Adhesive insuring a proper bond achieved.
6. Center the Membrane Attachment Ring over the Double Sided Adhesive and fasten using 3 to 7 fasteners as specified.
7. Apply an approved Seam Slice Adhesive Primer to the underside of the U-Anchor 2400 Single Ply cover and allow to dry before continuing.
8. Remove the release liner exposing the top surface of the adhesive.
9. Center and place the U-Anchor 2000 over the Double Sided Die Cut Adhesive and Membrane Attachment Ring.
10. Using a weighted membrane roller firmly roll the entire surface of the U-Anchor membrane cover to ensure a proper bond is achieved.
11. Firmly roll the perimeter edge to embed the perimeter edge of the membrane in the adhesive. If you are unable to embed the edge of the membrane into the adhesive cut edge sealant may be needed to prevent the membrane reinforcement from wicking moisture.
