Installation for U-Anchor 2600 Asphalt

On this page you'll find instructions for installation of the U-Anchor 2600 Asphalt for 1 layer and 2 layer adhered or torch applied techniques. Please scroll down to see the instructions for each technique.

Adhered 1 Layer

  1. Prepare the roof surface by removing all loose debris and clean the area in accordance with the SBS manufacturer’s recommendations.
  2. Place the plate over the roof membrane and align as per engineering requirements using the alignment marks on the edge of the plate.  Fasten using 2-4 fasteners as specified.
  3. Apply an approved asphalt primer to the top surface of the U-Anchor Plate and the entire roof area where the U-Anchor Asphalt cover will be adhered. Allow primer to dry prior to continuing.
  4. Apply SBS manufacturer’s approved trowel grade cold process adhesive or hot asphalt over the primed area to properly adhere the 16” X 16” U-Anchor cover.
  5. While the asphalt is still hot, broadcast matching granules over the exposed asphalt to enhance the finished appearance of the U-Anchor.

Adhered 2 Layers

  1. Prepare the roof surface by removing all loose debris and clean the area in accordance with the SBS manufacture’s recommendations.
  4. Apply SBS manufacturer’s approved trowel grade cold process adhesive or hot asphalt over the primed area to properly adhere the first 12” X 12” U-Anchor cover.  Place the cover over the U-Anchor bolt and apply pressure over the entire surface of the cover creating a proper bond.
  5. Apply another layer of the SBS manufacturer’s approved trowel grade cold process adhesive or hot asphalt over the first cover.  The adhesive or hot asphalt should extend beyond the area of the second 18” X 18” U-Anchor Cover. Place the second 18” X 18” cover over the U-Anchor bolt and apply pressure over the entire surface of the cover creating a proper bond.
  6. While the asphalt is still hot, broadcast matching granules over the exposed asphalt to enhance the finished appearance of the U-Anchor.

Torch Applied 1 Layer

  1. Prepare the roof surface by removing all loose debris and clean the area in accordance with the APP or SBS (Torch Grade) roofing manufacturer’s recommendations.
  4. U-Anchor Asphalt Torch Cover is to be torch applied to the primed area over the U-Anchor plate and bolt. Apply 75% of the heat to the U-Anchor Cover and 25% to the area receiving the cover.
  5. If necessary, use a roofing trowel to gently lift the perimeter edge of the cover and apply heat as necessary to ensure proper adhesion. The finished perimeter edge should have a minimum 3/8” bleed out for APP materials and a minimum of ¼” bleed out for SBS (Torch Grade) materials.
  6. While the bitumen is still hot, broadcast matching granules over the exposed bleed out to enhance the finished appearance of the U-Anchor.

Torch Applied 2 Layers

  1. Prepare the roof surface by removing all loose debris and clean the area in accordance with the APP or SBS (Torch Grade) roofing manufacturer’s recommendations.
  2. Place the plate over the roof membrane and alien as per engineering requirements using the alignment marks on the edge of the plate.  Fasten using 2-4 fasteners as specified.
  3. Apply an approved asphalt primer to the top surface of the U-Anchor Plate and the entire roof area where the U-Anchor Asphalt cover will be adhered. Allow primer to dry prior to continuing.
  4. Asphalt Torch Cover (12” x 12” base) is to be torch applied to the primed area over the U-Anchor plate and bolt. Apply 75% of the heat to the U-Anchor Cover and 25% to the area receiving the cover.
  5. Torch apply the 18” X 18” cover over the 12” x 12” base and U-Anchor plate and bolt. Apply 75% of the heat to the U-Anchor Cover and 25% to the substrate.
  7. While the bitumen is still hot, broadcast matching granules over the exposed bleed out to enhance the finished appearance of the U-Anchor.
